A community-led pumpkin trail featuring 27 unique displays is inviting Trowbridge residents to explore town centre businesses while supporting sustainable Halloween celebrations.

A town-wide Halloween initiative is encouraging Trowbridge residents to explore local shops and venues as part of the Trowbridge Chamber Pumpkin Trail. The event, which launched on Saturday, October 24 and runs until November 1, features 27 creatively decorated pumpkins displayed in the windows of participating businesses throughout the town centre.

The trail, sponsored by Persimmon Homes, incorporates a variety of designs ranging from classic Halloween motifs to circus and seasonal themes. Businesses taking part include a wide range of local establishments, such as cafes, beauty salons, a toy shop, a board games club, a pet shop, a bakery, and even a local circus school.

Megan Witty, events director at the Trowbridge Chamber, said: "We are delighted that so many town centre businesses are taking part and having fun decorating their pumpkins. We hope that residents and visitors of all ages will enjoy discovering some of our wonderful town centre shops, cafes and venues."

Beyond the festive displays, organisers have included a community competition to encourage engagement. Visitors are invited to collect a trail map from the Trowbridge Chamber website, the Trowbridge Information Centre, or The Toy Shop on Castle Street. Each pumpkin display is marked with a specific competition number. To enter the prize draw, participants must calculate the total of all numbers on the trail and email the result to info@trowbridgechamber.com.

Prizes on offer include family tickets to the Cinderella Panto at The Civic, a pampering gift box from Nature’s Sanctuary, a bottle of sparkling wine from Majestic, and a £20 Tesco voucher. Tesco has also supported the event by donating the pumpkins.

In an effort to address the environmental impact of Halloween, organisers have asked participating businesses to decorate their pumpkins externally rather than carving them. This approach aims to reduce food waste, allowing the pumpkins to be used for cooking recipes such as soups, pies, and cupcakes once the event concludes. The Trowbridge Chamber is providing further inspiration for those wishing to use their pumpkins in the kitchen via their official website.
