KFC in Trowbridge seeks midnight dining and 5am takeaway licence
By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

The KFC branch at Spitfire Retail Park has submitted a licensing application to Wiltshire Council to significantly extend its operating hours.
The KFC restaurant located at the Spitfire Retail Park in Trowbridge is seeking permission to extend its operating hours, potentially allowing the branch to serve takeaway customers until 5am seven days a week.
Currently, the fast food outlet operates between 10am and 11pm from Sunday to Thursday, with closing times extended to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. Under the new proposals submitted to Wiltshire Council, the franchise has applied for a revised licence that would permit restaurant dining until midnight and takeaway services until 5am. The application also includes a request to begin trading slightly earlier, with proposed opening hours starting at 9.30am.
If successful, the move would see the Trowbridge branch join the trend of fast food outlets keeping drive-through lanes open throughout the night to accommodate the needs of shift workers, long-distance travellers, and the growing demand for late-night delivery services. Currently, none of the seven KFC branches operating within Wiltshire, nor the three locations in Swindon, offer service beyond midnight.
Wiltshire Council is now accepting public feedback on the proposal. Residents and interested parties have until 7 October to submit comments regarding the application before a final decision is made by the local authority.
Those wishing to review the full details of the licensing application or to submit a formal response can do so via the Wiltshire Council planning and licensing portal.
