Essential traffic signal repairs are set to begin at the Frome Road and College Road junction, adding to existing traffic pressure across the town.

Trowbridge drivers are being warned of further traffic delays as Wiltshire Council announces new essential roadworks. Repairs to the traffic signals at the junction of Frome Road and College Road are scheduled to commence on Monday, November 2.

The work is expected to last for approximately two days. To facilitate the repairs, Wiltshire Council will install temporary multi-way traffic signals alongside a temporary pedestrian crossing. Officials have stated that the works will be restricted to off-peak hours in an effort to keep traffic moving through the area.

The announcement has met with frustration from local residents and road users, who have expressed concerns over the accumulation of road closures throughout the town. Many have pointed to existing diversions, such as the closure of West Ashton Road, as evidence that the local network is currently struggling to manage the volume of traffic.

Residents have taken to social media to criticise the timing of the maintenance, with some questioning why the work was not scheduled during school holiday periods when traffic flow is generally lighter. The ongoing nature of roadworks in the centre of Trowbridge has also led to warnings from local businesses, who fear the persistent disruption is discouraging visitors and impacting trade.

In response to the feedback, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Council maintained that the work at the Frome Road junction is essential to ensure road safety and infrastructure reliability. The council has offered an apology for the inconvenience and thanked motorists for their patience while these repairs are carried out.
