A 21-year-old man has admitted to stabbing a woman in her 20s during a disorder at a social club in Westbury. Jordan Bingham, of no fixed abode, appeared at Salisbury Crown Court on Wednesday, 16 September, where he entered guilty pleas to charges of Section 18 grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 16 August, at the Westbury Conservative Club on Alfred Street. Police were called to the scene following reports of a disturbance involving a large group of people. The victim was taken to hospital to receive treatment for a knife wound, while investigators noted that other individuals were also assaulted during the altercation.
Following the plea hearing, Bingham has been remanded in custody. He is scheduled to return to Salisbury Crown Court for sentencing on 20 November. The court has requested a pre-sentence report to evaluate the risk posed by the defendant, and his legal defence is currently obtaining medical reports to assist in the sentencing process.
Reflecting on the incident shortly after it occurred, Detective Sergeant Kayne Borresen of Wiltshire Police highlighted the high number of people present at the venue at the time of the disorder. Officers have continued to appeal for anyone who was at the scene and witnessed the events to come forward if they have not already spoken with the police.
