The discount retailer has confirmed it will shut its Market Place branch next month, with consultation currently underway for affected employees.

Shoppers in Warminster are set to lose a prominent town centre store next month after Poundland confirmed the closure of its branch at 17 Market Place. The retailer announced that it will cease trading at the site on Saturday, 21 November.

The decision follows unsuccessful negotiations regarding a new lease for the premises. A spokesperson for Poundland confirmed that the inability to reach an agreement with the landlord necessitated the move.

While the company has not disclosed the number of staff members affected by the decision, it stated that a consultation process is already underway to support employees through the transition. In a brief statement, the retailer expressed regret over the impact the closure will have on both local customers and the store team.

The company spokesperson noted that, as with any store closure under such circumstances, the retailer is doing everything possible to look after its staff during this period. The store remains open for business until its final day of trade on 21 November.
