Warminster’s popular splash pad is set for an upgrade in 2027 following the approval of new funding for interactive play equipment.
A popular children’s splash pad at Warminster’s Lake Pleasure Grounds is set to receive significant new additions when it reopens in 2027. Following record-breaking visitor numbers, Warminster Town Council has confirmed plans to install a new flying frisbee and a water cannon at the facility.
Since the site reopened for the current season in April, the splash pad has attracted approximately 90,000 visitors. The council has noted that the installation of the new features will not require any groundworks, as the original design of the splash pad already accommodated space for future expansion.
The council’s Parks and Estate Committee approved £9,189 in funding for the project during a meeting on Monday, September 28. The investment is being sourced from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), a charge paid by developers on new building projects which is ring-fenced for improvements to local public spaces and facilities.
Cllr Stacie Allensby, chair of the Parks and Estate Committee, said: "We are delighted to add two new features to the splash pad. Warminster Town Council will continue investing in facilities that draw people to our brilliant town and the wonderful Lake Pleasure Grounds."
The new equipment is designed to enhance the experience for younger visitors, with the flying frisbee intended to create swirling, changing water patterns, while the water cannon allows children to rotate and direct the flow of water. The council stated that these additions will complement the existing play equipment already in place.
The splash pad has seen increased popularity this year, partly attributed to extended opening hours compared to previous seasons. Local officials have expressed satisfaction with the high turnout and positive feedback from families across the region.
