Wiltshire Police have issued a warning to motorists after catching multiple drivers exceeding speed limits in Warminster during recent enforcement checks.

Drivers in Warminster have been warned to watch their speed after local police carried out targeted enforcement operations to improve road safety. During an operation on September 15, officers monitored traffic on Victoria Road, where they identified eight motorists exceeding the 30mph limit in just 25 minutes.

Speeds of up to 44mph were recorded at the site. Following the checks, seven of the drivers were offered a place on a Speed Awareness Course, while one motorist received a Fixed Penalty Notice and three points on their licence.

The neighbourhood policing team also targeted a second location in the area on the same day. During an operation in Hill Deverill near the Old Church, officers found four additional vehicles travelling above the 30mph limit, with the highest speed recorded at 41mph. All four of these drivers were also offered the opportunity to attend a Speed Awareness Course as an alternative to further prosecution.

These enforcement actions form part of a broader, ongoing effort by Wiltshire Police to address speeding concerns across local communities. The Warminster neighbourhood policing team has confirmed that officers will continue to carry out proactive patrols to help keep local roads safe and have urged residents to drive smart and remain aware of speed limits.
