Waste to Wonder Worldwide has been honoured with The King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainability for its work in repurposing office equipment to support community projects.
A Wiltshire-based organisation that transforms unwanted office furniture into resources for schools and community groups has been recognised with one of the UK’s most prestigious business honours.
Waste to Wonder Worldwide received The King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainability during a special ceremony held at Fairfield College in Dilton Marsh. The award, which was presented by Dame Sarah Troughton, the Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, celebrates the firm's significant efforts in reducing landfill waste through its ethical reuse programme.
The company, which maintains a substantial team in Wiltshire, including managing director Michael Amos and operations director Vince Smith, has spent over two decades tackling the issue of office waste. Since its inception 23 years ago, the enterprise has supported more than 1,700 organisations across 50 countries, repurposing over 1.5 million items that would otherwise have been discarded. This activity has generated more than £60 million in value for the schools and charities that received the equipment.
Speaking on the achievement, Michael Amos said the award was a proud moment for the entire team. He noted that the company was founded on the simple belief that quality furniture should be used to support people rather than being sent to landfill. He credited the dedication of staff and partners for the scale of the impact they have achieved globally.
The environmental credentials of the firm are significant. In 2025 alone, the organisation diverted more than 2.3 million kilograms of furniture and equipment from waste streams across 282 projects, preventing over six million kilograms of carbon emissions. Dame Sarah Troughton praised the company for its ability to turn a complex recycling challenge into a simple and highly effective operation, noting the pride the county takes in the firm’s success.
Fairfield College, which served as the venue for the award ceremony, is among the many local beneficiaries of the company’s work. The King’s Award for Enterprise is a major accolade that will allow Waste to Wonder Worldwide to use the royal emblem on its branding and communications for the next five years.
