Work is underway on a development at The Three Daggers in Edington that will provide the village with new sports facilities, a relocated play park and additional parking.

A popular Wiltshire pub has launched a significant development project aimed at expanding its facilities while providing new assets for the Edington community. Construction work has commenced at The Three Daggers, with plans to introduce a new multi-use games area and a relocated village play park.

The project, which has received formal planning approval, is designed to enhance the village's recreational infrastructure. Once completed, the multi-use games area—intended to host football, basketball and other activities—is set to be owned by the parish council to ensure its status as a permanent community asset.

In addition to the recreational space, the pub is addressing local parking and traffic issues. A new car park located behind the venue's farm shop will provide over 40 additional spaces. Management stated that the goal of this expansion is to reduce roadside congestion and improve safety for local residents, staff and customers, a long-standing priority for the team behind the 18th-century venue.

Katie Thompson, representing The Three Daggers, described the project as a new chapter for the business. She emphasised that while the investment will allow the business to grow, the inclusion of community-focused facilities reflects a desire to support the village that has historically backed the pub. The venue has also committed to ongoing investment in the play area through planned annual fundraising initiatives.

Beyond the new outdoor facilities, the site is undergoing internal changes. The existing staff car park at the front of the premises will be repurposed into a new beer garden, creating additional outdoor seating for visitors. This follows a period of growth for the venue, which has previously expanded to include boutique accommodation, cottages, a farm shop, a microbrewery and a wellness barn.
