The hospice charity is inviting the community to take part in a series of festive workshops, concerts, and markets to support local families in need this Christmas.
Julia’s House, the children’s hospice charity that provides essential care for families across Wiltshire and Dorset, has unveiled its programme of Christmas events. The initiative aims to raise vital funds for the nearly 200 families the charity currently supports, including those dealing with life-shortening conditions.
As part of the fundraising effort, the charity is hosting a range of community gatherings and workshops throughout November and December.
Festive workshops and markets
Those looking to get creative can attend wreath-making workshops. Two sessions will be held at the Julia’s House Devizes Wharf Shop on New Park Street on Sunday 6 December, running from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3pm. A further workshop is scheduled for the Julia’s House Warminster Shop on Fisherton Street on Monday 14 December, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Tickets for these sessions are £35 per person, which covers all materials, festive treats, and refreshments. Booking is essential for all workshop dates.
For those interested in local crafts, a Christmas Artisan Market is taking place at the Bromham Community Hub in Chippenham on Sunday 22 November. Running from 10am to 2pm, the event will feature hand-crafted items, refreshments, and a raffle. Both entry and parking are free for attendees.
Community carol concerts
The charity has also organised a traditional carol service for the Swindon area. The event will take place at Christ Church, Cricklade Street, on Monday 7 December. Doors open at 6.15pm ahead of a 7pm start. The evening will feature traditional carols, performances by a local choir, and readings from families supported by Julia’s House. Attendees will be provided with mince pies and mulled wine. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children aged between five and 18, while children under five can attend for free.
Christmas tree recycling
In the New Year, Julia’s House will once again operate its Christmas tree recycling service. Residents can book a collection for their real trees, which will be picked up from doorsteps between 7 January and 9 January 2027. Bookings must be completed by 4 January via the charity’s website. The organisation is also currently appealing for volunteers and those with access to vans to assist with the collection process on those dates.
Julia’s House relies on public donations and fundraising for approximately 92 per cent of its annual operating costs. Further details on all events, including booking links and information on volunteering, can be found at www.juliashouse.org/JHChristmas .
