A dedicated pet food bank has reopened in Royal Wootton Bassett to assist residents struggling with the rising cost of living.

A community-led pet food bank has reopened in Royal Wootton Bassett, offering a vital lifeline to local owners struggling to provide for their animals during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

The RWB and More pet food bank, which is operated from the home of founder Katie Lewis, is now open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The service aims to ensure that no owner is forced to part with their pets due to financial hardship by providing food parcels to those in need.

Ms Lewis, who originally launched the initiative during the pandemic, decided to relaunch the service after witnessing the persistent financial pressure faced by many in the community. Since its inception, the food bank has supported approximately 200 pet owners.

The current operation is a deeply personal project for the founder, being dedicated to the memory of her late cat, Charlie, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 19. Ms Lewis described her own animals as the primary motivation for the initiative, noting that the food bank is designed to give residents one less worry while keeping families together.

How to access support

The food bank operates 24/7, allowing members of the public to drop off donations or collect food parcels at any time. The facility is based in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Residents who require assistance or those who wish to support the initiative by donating supplies are encouraged to contact Ms Lewis directly at katielewis792@gmail.com .
