Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after 40 North Country Mule lambs were stolen from a farm near Shaftesbury.
Wiltshire Police have launched an investigation following the theft of a flock of lambs from a farm in the south of the county. Officers are appealing for information after 40 North Country Mule lambs were taken from fields situated above Norrington Farm, near Berwick St John, close to the town of Shaftesbury.
The disappearance of the animals occurred over a significant window, with police estimating the theft took place at some point between 5 July and 31 August. The fields are located alongside Old Shaftesbury Drove, an area described by authorities as an open, exposed hillside that is frequently walked and used by motorists.
Given the location and the duration of the incident, investigators are keen to hear from anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity or has information regarding the flock's whereabouts. Detectives are also appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the lambs being transported from the area during the specified period.
The loss of 40 lambs represents a significant blow to the farm. Police are urging anyone with relevant information, including recent sightings of the flock, to come forward to assist with their enquiries.
Anyone who can help identify those responsible or provide details on the incident is asked to contact Wiltshire Police by calling 101. Callers should quote crime reference number 54260107129.
